Heidi Health alternatives for solo practices and small clinics (2026)
Facts checked on 14 October 2026. Prices change, so check each vendor's page before you decide.
Heidi Health is a strong AI scribe. Its free plan includes unlimited scribing with standard templates, and its Clinician plan is $150 a month, or $110 a month billed yearly. You might still look elsewhere if you want a lower paid price, therapy formats ready to use, or a different way to work. This page is for solo clinicians and small clinics who buy their own tools.
We make MentalNote, so it is listed first and labeled as ours. The others are listed in no particular order.

MentalNote (ours)
- Free plan with 5 web-app scribe sessions a month, no time limit and no credit card. Premium is $99 a month, or $990 a year ($82.50 a month).
- SOAP, DAP, BIRP, GIRP, PIRP and Progress notes, plus Intake and Treatment Plan workflows. The Intake format includes psychiatric history, medications and mental status observations.
- The app instructs the AI to use only what was said and to write "Not documented in session" for anything you did not cover. Review every draft.
- Optional Microsoft Word add-in drafts a note from a typed summary. MentalNote is HIPAA-compliant, with a BAA included on every plan.
- Honest limit: no direct EHR write-back, and it is built for mental health today. If most of your visits are primary care or another non-behavioral specialty, Heidi has dedicated templates today.
Freed
- 7-day free trial with no credit card.
- Starter covers up to 40 notes a month; Core adds unlimited notes; Premier is $119 a month, or $104 a month billed yearly.
- Specialty-specific templates. One-click push into browser-based EHRs (Premier only).
Nabla
- Each individual user gets a 30-day free trial, then a $119 a month subscription. Group rates on request.
- Supports a long list of specialties, from family medicine to psychotherapy, and over 35 languages.
- E/M and ICD-10 coding suggestions, and integrations with Epic and athenahealth.
Suki
- The Suki pages we checked on 14 October 2026 did not list a price; its homepage invites you to chat with its sales team.
- Integrations with Epic, Oracle Health, athenahealth and MEDITECH, and 100+ specialties.
Microsoft Dragon Copilot
- Nuance's DAX Copilot page now redirects to Microsoft Dragon Copilot.
- For physicians it runs in a browser, mobile app, desktop app, or embedded in EHRs such as Epic. Microsoft's page asks you to contact a representative.
How to choose
- Count your specialties. If you are a therapist or psychiatric clinician, pick a tool with your formats ready to use. If you mostly see primary care, pick a multi-specialty tool.
- Decide on free plan or trial. Heidi and MentalNote have free plans; Freed and Nabla offer trials.
- Check the BAA wording on each vendor's own site before you record a session.
- Ask about your EHR. If you need notes pushed into your EHR, MentalNote is not the right fit today.
