Blueprint is the AI assistant for therapists at blueprint.ai. The old blueprint-health.com address now redirects there, and its BAA names the company as HelloJoy, Inc. d/b/a Blueprint.
The short answer
- Choose Blueprint if you want to pay per session, record on a mobile app, or move your whole practice into an EHR with scheduling, telehealth and billing built in.
- Choose MentalNote if you are a solo therapist or a small practice that wants a free plan you can keep using or a Microsoft Word add-in, while you keep your current EHR.

Where Blueprint is stronger
- Pay per session. $0.99 a session alongside your EHR, with credits that never expire. At that rate, fewer than 100 sessions a month costs less than MentalNote Premium billed monthly. Blueprint's page also shows a $69 per seat option.
- Mobile app and more capture modes. Record on your phone, dictate or upload audio.
- A full EHR if you want one. Scheduling, telehealth, intake forms, client portal and insurance claims at $1.49 a session.
- Clinical support beyond the note. Session prep, outcome measures and a library of 600+ assessments, worksheets and interventions.
Where MentalNote is stronger
- A free plan that does not expire. 5 recorded sessions every month, against 5 free sessions or a 30-day trial.
- Microsoft Word add-in. Type a short summary in Word and get a structured note, with no recording.
- Note rules against filling gaps. MentalNote's note rules tell the AI to use only what was said in the session, to write "Not documented in session" where something was not covered, and not to add a diagnosis you did not state.
MentalNote is HIPAA-compliant, with a BAA included on every plan. Blueprint publishes a BAA that takes effect when you create an account or use the service. So a BAA is not a reason to choose one over the other.
